ASP.NET developers building a web farm often face a problem of storing user session specific information on the server side. When it comes to supporting an uptime-demanding application on a web farm there are two options offered by Microsoft: either use a dedicated Session State server, or a SQL Server. The former may be considered a single point of failure. The latter is slower and more resilient to failures, however solving the problem of it becoming a single point of failure requires setting up a database cluster, which is quite expensive, not trivial to configure and maintain.
StateMirror solves these problems by offering a new generation Session State Server technology complimenting server-side session storage and caching mechanisms provided by Microsoft.
StateMirror supports other data synchronization scenarios, such as Application Cache synchronization (aka Distributed Caching). With an industry standard Caching Application Block (CAB) support StateMirror can help you in other cache replication scenarios. It will replicate cache entries through your servers seamlessly, with the same performance and reliability.
